Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern all services provided by Chaptr 10 ("Chaptr 10," "we," "us," or "our") to authors, individuals, organizations, and companies (collectively, "Client," "Author," or "you"). By engaging Chaptr 10 for any service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Scope of Services

Chaptr 10 provides publishing-related services, which may include but are not limited to:

• Editorial services (developmental editing, copyediting, proofreading)

• Book cover design

• Interior layout and typesetting (print and digital)

• File preparation for print and digital platforms

• ISBN acquisition and registration (where requested)

• Printing coordination and production support

• Distribution setup and publishing advisory

Services are rendered strictly as agreed in writing (email, invoice, proposal, or contract). Any service not explicitly listed is excluded.

2. Engagement & Onboarding

• A project officially begins only after written approval, signed agreement (where applicable), and payment of the required deposit or full fee.

• Clients must provide all required materials (manuscript, images, references, briefs) in a timely manner.

• Delays in submission of materials may affect timelines without liability to Chaptr 10.

  
  

3. Editorial & Design Process

3.1 Editing

• Editing is conducted according to the agreed stage (developmental, copyediting, or proofreading).

• Once an editorial stage is completed and approved, revisions that alter structure, meaning, or scope will be treated as a new service and billed separately.

• Chaptr 10 does not guarantee acceptance by publishers, distributors, or platforms.

  
  

3.2 Design & Layout

• Design concepts are based on the approved brief and industry standards.

• Reasonable revisions are included as defined in the project agreement.

• Major changes after approval (trim size, page count, typography direction, or content changes) may incur additional costs.

  
  

4. Files & Deliverables

• Final deliverables may include print-ready PDFs, eBook files (ePub, PDF), and cover files, as agreed.

• Editable/source files are not provided unless explicitly stated and paid for.

• Chaptr 10 is not responsible for issues arising from third-party modifications of delivered files.

  
  

5. ISBN Policy

• Where Chaptr 10 provides an ISBN, it is assigned solely for the agreed edition and format.

• ISBN ownership and publisher imprint will be defined prior to registration.

• ISBNs supplied by the Author must be valid and correctly registered; Chaptr 10 bears no liability for errors in third-party ISBN data.

  
  

6. Printing & Production

• Printing services may be handled through third-party vendors.

• Chaptr 10 is not liable for delays, defects, or losses caused by printers beyond reasonable quality checks.

• Print quantities, paper choice, binding, and finishes must be approved by the Client before production.

• Once printing commences, no cancellations or refunds apply to print costs.

  
  

7. Distribution & Third-Party Platforms

• Chaptr 10 may assist with setup on platforms such as Amazon, Apple Books, Kobo, or others.

• Final approval, compliance, and account ownership remain the Author’s responsibility.

• Chaptr 10 is not responsible for platform policy changes, de-listings, or account suspensions.

8. Payments & Fees

• All fees are stated in the agreed currency and are non-refundable once work has commenced.

• Payment milestones must be met as agreed.

• Late payments may result in paused work, withheld deliverables, or termination of services.

• Additional work outside scope will be invoiced separately.

  
  

9. Intellectual Property

• The Author retains full copyright to their content unless otherwise agreed.

• Chaptr 10 retains ownership of all original design concepts until full payment is made.

• Upon full payment, the Client receives a license to use the final approved designs for the agreed purpose only.

• Chaptr 10 reserves the right to display completed works in its portfolio unless otherwise requested in writing.

• Only Final and approved deliverable are properties of the author, Chaptr 10 own no right of use to them.

  
  

10. Confidentiality

• All unpublished manuscripts and materials are treated as confidential.

• Chaptr 10 will not share or distribute content without consent, except where required by law.

  
  

11. Author Responsibilities

The Author confirms that:

• They own or have rights to all submitted content.

• The work does not infringe on third-party rights.

• All content is lawful and accurate to the best of their knowledge.

Chaptr 10 is not liable for plagiarism, defamation, or legal disputes arising from the Author’s content.

12. Termination

• Either party may terminate a project in writing.

• Fees for work completed up to the termination date remain payable.

• Any outstanding balances must be settled before release of files.

  
  

13. Limitation of Liability

• Chaptr 10’s liability is limited to the fees paid for the specific service.

• We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.

  
  

14. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, unless otherwise agreed in writing.

15. Amendments

Chaptr 10 reserves the right to update these Terms. Updated versions will apply to new engagements.

By engaging Chaptr 10 Publishing Services, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms of Service.
